@t your last sentence there is why I’ve tried to reduce my use (often over-reliance) of these and similar words/phrases, particularly when trying to explain or document something.
My take-away from an older discussion on this topic was that: something might seem obvious to me, with my particular blend of skills, experience, and knowledge, but I shouldn’t assume my reader sees it the same way. If I can write it in a more inclusive way, which doesn’t appear to downplay what’s involved, then so much the better.
